Bern charges the regular tuition fee of CHF 850 a semester plus, for students who did not live in Switzerland or Liechtenstein when they qualified for university, an additional CHF 1,700 a semester: CHF 2,550 a semester, CHF 5,100 a year. Students already enrolled before the autumn semester 2026 keep the former supplement of CHF 200 a semester until they finish that degree. A semester fee of CHF 34 applies on top, and CHF 25 more for members of the student union. From the thirteenth semester without a degree a further CHF 1,700 is charged.
