About this programme

The Bachelor's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering offers a thorough engineering education focusing on design and manufacturing of machines and systems. By studying mainly interdisciplinary courses, students acquire the ability and competence to solve complex engineering problems. Next to this solid basic education in mechanical engineering, students are taught the modelling of mathematical and physical processes, plus their computer-aided analysis. This enables students to gain a comprehensive understanding of technical systems and to develop innovative solutions. In the first semesters, students acquire essential knowledge in mathematics, mechanics, natural sciences and technical representation, all of which is required to soundly comprehend technical systems and develop practical solutions and applications for them. In further modules, topics such as thermodynamics, materials science, electrical engineering and information technology are covered in greater depth. Systemic and analytical thinking is being encouraged by all teaching staff, a skill that is indispensable for engineering issues and topics. The Bachelor's degree provides entry either into a Master's degree programme or directly into the professional world of technology. The expertise and key skills acquired during the programme form the basis for a successful career in mechanical engineering and add to shaping the technologies of tomorrow.
