Application deadlines for Germany

Set by uni-assist, the application service most German universities use for international applicants for the standard German semester dates. An individual university or programme can close earlier.

Courses starting in the winter semester
15 July
Courses starting in the summer semester
15 January

uni-assist states: 'The application deadline is often July 15th if the course starts in the winter semester' and 'The application deadline is often January 15th if the course starts in the summer semester.' It adds that many universities set earlier deadlines, particularly for master's courses and the Studienkolleg, that an evaluation usually takes 4 to 6 weeks from receipt, and advises applying 'at least 8 weeks before the deadline expires' so that missing documents can be fixed in time. Individual German programmes publish their own date, and those are shown on the programme pages here.
