Entry requirements and how to apply
- Entry requirements
- Academic admission requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Geodesy and Geoinformatics, in an engineering discipline, in Geosciences or in Geography. Students should be familiar with the basic concepts of mathematics and geoinformation systems. An understanding of digital imaging/computer vision, satellite positioning, and data processing is welcome. It is important to note that basic programming skills are also needed, and they will be deepened throughout the programme. Prior to the final admission, the admission committee can invite applicants to a 20-minute online interview with one of the lecturers of the degree programme. The interview helps determine if the applicant is capable of successfully completing the desired study programme.

About this programme
Geodesy and Geoinformatics (specialisation in "Remote Sensing and GIS") is a geoscience subject mainly based on computer science, image processing, geoinformatics and artificial intelligence. Typical topics of the course include sustainable and responsible solutions of one of the central future tasks of our society: to derive conclusive options for action for the sustainable development of our environment by observing and monitoring the earth as a whole. By combining image and geodata analysis, positioning and communication, information can be provided virtually in real time, which is made available in a geoinformation system (GIS), containing also in-situ and additional information, for further processing and visualisation. The results create an essential basis for decision-making on issues relating to agriculture and forestry, environmental protection, the Earth system, for example, for measures in the context of climate change, as well as sustainable development, disaster control, civil security and many other socially relevant areas. In the "Remote Sensing and GIS" specialisation, you will deepen your knowledge of the various techniques of image-based earth observation, data analysis, evaluation and presentation using geoinformation systems.
