- Undergraduate diploma (or higher) First-cycle higher education* or equivalent higher education in linguistics, literature or cultural studies; persons who have obtained such education are admitted without an entrance examination; or First-cycle higher education* or equivalent higher education in other humanities or teacher education (language, literature and/or culture teacher education); pass of entrance examination by submitting a written 1 page motivation letter; or First-cycle higher education* or equivalent higher education in another field and one year of professional/creative experience in a field related to the humanities; pass of entrance examination by submitting a written 1 page motivation letter; English language proficiency; *Bachelor’s degree or a diploma proving equivalent level of education EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, EU long-term resident status holders and Ukrainian civilians can compete for a state-funded study place (application deadline 5 July 2026) Applicants whose previous education was not obtained in a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area ( EEA ) country, or in the Swiss Confederation, must provide one of the following standardised test results issued w
- Language requirements
- English Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests: LanguageCert International ESOL at least Level Communicator C1 (Written and Spoken exams); TOEFL IBT – at least 100 is required for tests taken on or before 21 January 2026, or a minimum score of 5 for tests taken after 21 January 2026. TOEFL Essential – at least 10 points IELTS – at least score 7.00 PTE General – at least level C1 PTE Academic – at least 67 point CPE – Proficiency/C2 Proficiency: any level CAE – C1 Advanced any level Applicants who have obtained previous education in English in one of the bellow listed countries do not need to provide separate language proficiency: • Australia • The Bahamas • Canada • Ireland • New Zealand • St Vincent and the Grenadines • United Kingdom • United States of America *Foreign nationals who are citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation may also prove their language proficiency by means of a language assessment included in their secondary or prior higher education certificate, which is recognised as equivalent to at least a C1 level according to the Common European F

- All non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants, except University of Latvia graduates, will be required to take part in an online interview as part of the admissions process. EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, EU long-term resident status holders and Ukrainian civilians can compete for a state-funded study place (application deadline 5 July 2026) Enrolment criteria (for students competing for the state-funded study place): 1) For applicants who have completed previous education in linguistics, literature or cultural studies: The average grade obtained in final exams (40%); The grade point average of undergraduate studies (60%). 2) For applicants who have completed previous education in other fields: The average grade obtained in final exams (35%); The grade point average of undergraduate studies (35%); Entrance examination (30%)
